As an established garden room business since 2012 with over 350 builds in our portfolio, and with many years experience previous to this running a successful design and build carpentry and renovation company, we are more than well placed to be able to advise on all aspects surrounding the construction, design and placement of garden room buildings.

Below are the answers to a few frequently asked questions, but we also find that a brief conversation with Trevor Naylor, the Director and Project Manager of Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited – whether it be telephone or by email – is often the best way to find out everything you need to know…

Although based in Nottingham, we build garden rooms throughout the United Kingdom, with builds from Aberdeen, to Cornwall, Cardiff and beyond!

Planning permission is not usually needed for garden rooms as they fall under permitted development. We recommend that if there is any doubt, especially if you are in a conservation area, then the best course of action to take is to go on your local planning portal or contact your local planning office.

If you do require planning permission Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited can guide you very easily through the process which we have found in all our years of experience to be very straight forward.

Absolutely. Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited is one of the few garden room companies that hand craft our garden rooms on site, meaning that doors, windows, lights, sockets, etc. can be placed exactly where you wish them to be.

The prices on the range page of our website include the full specification, including electrical connection to your house, VAT, delivery and installation. The only item that is not included is your base, which you can either have completed by a company local to you, or we can quote you for separately when we see you for a site visit.

We recommend either a concrete base, 100mm thick with a damp proof membrane, or a ground screw base. You can either have this completed by a company local to you prior to the installation of your garden room, or we can quote you for this separately when we see you for a site visit.

Yes and the cost of this is included in the price of your garden room unless it is a very complicated connection. This is rare and will be ascertained at the time of your site visit.

There are two solutions, either using a wireless TP link or alternatively we can run a fully armoured CAT 6 network cable from the router in your house to the garden room. This would usually be done along with the main electrical power cable.

Absolutely. Our garden rooms are fully insulated and also come with a wall mounted radiator and outside lights as standard.

Depending on the size of your garden room, installation can take between 10 and 15 working days to complete.

As a family run company Crusoe Garden Rooms Limited has one specialised team. We do not outsource our work. Our Director and project manager, Trevor will manage your build, Paul is our head carpenter/builder and Fred head plasterer/builder. Jordan and/or Jack will carry out your electrical connection.

Yes, completely free. Site visits can be in person, on a zoom/whatsapp call or via email and photos, completely up to you!
